Seriously, don't you wish it were that easy? I am tired of cruelty! I wish all you had to do is tell people to be nice and they would.
It has just really been bothering me how mean people can be lately. Don't get me wrong, I am not exempting myself from this observation, I definitely have a lot of work to do on being kinder to others. I just wonder why some people find it so easy to be mean. . . any ideas? Here are a few examples:
- I have a girl in my class who enjoys "power" immensely. The other day, the 6th grade had asked the 5th graders to come and observe their Microorganism Museum and to fill out grading sheets on the projects. Well, on a scale of 0-4, she gave one boy all 2's. I thought his project was excellent. It was neat, organized, and demonstrated his knowledge. However, she gave him low scores just because she could.
- I have received a few cruel comments about my pregnancy. Not that tongue-in-cheek humor that I know is good-natured ribbing, but honest to goodness mean comments.
- There were 2 boys in my class who poured their yogurt on another boy's coat during breakfast--just because.
I know this really is a rhetorical question. I also know that things don't change just because you want them to. But I also know that names really can hurt you. I am going to try harder to be kind. Sigh!!!!!

How sad for the kids that are the butt of the power plays. You would hope that they would remember how it felt to be picked on but I don't think they remember that. Don't they often wait until they can pick on others in return? I guess this is a vote for homeschooling? About the pregnancy? My little family is very excited for you. Plus it takes the heat off of me for a little while to supply a new grand "baby"!
Mean comments about your pregnancy?! What is wrong with people?
Let me try to make up for the mean people...woooohooooo! Baby fun! This is gonna be the one that you will appreciate all the small things as they happen since you're so far removed from your last pregnanies/babies. Just think you get to feel that super cool feeling of little flutters inside your belly again. Bet you thought that would never happen again! And the baby smell...ahhhh. What a smart baby to choose you, too: patient, loving, smart, and funny mom. Who could beat that?
Thanks guys! I sure appreciate the positiveness! :)
I feel the need to say sorry for my shock and awe comments. I do hope you know I was kidding. I was just shocked! We are all happy for you. And what a cute baby it will be! Plus I know how loved it will be. And as for the kids at school. Sometimes it does take a village to raise a good kid. I hope the mean kids were held accountable for their choices. That is how we learn.
i hate mean people.. yes i know that is a "mean"statement... but come on! it is the adults that the kids/encourage the kids to be mean.. example..
pee boy in my class.. well according the my kids the sub encouraged htem to make fun of him so he would learn his lesson and stop peeing.. now they all mock him and refuse to sit by him.. while i secretly do the same .. i dont do it to his face.. what happend to tollerance. i am SO annoyed at her for doing this.. there goes my class unityn
and all the haters out here about that baby are just jealous! i think it is awesome and you are lucky= that baby is going to be so loved and cared for!
Wendy, I knew you were only kidding. I was SO NOT offended by your comments! What I am talking about is people who don't care whether or not what they say hurts someone else.
I hear ya, Mary! It's too bad that some of our students have such "great" examples to follow--especially from the people who should know better!
I am thrilled for you!! I wish I was pregnant, I dont really want another baby but boy do I love babies, and having a life inside, kicking and moving. So awesome.
Ignore mean people, they usually dont feel very good about themselves and take it out on the world around them.
