My Cute Little Hunter-Man

Hunter always comes in my class before he goes out to recess for a little hug and a kiss--he doesn't care who is in there with me. (I hope this lasts for awhile longer!!!) On this particular day, my class was in the library so he left me a note on my white board. I LOVE it when he does this!!!!

Apparently he has been STRESSING OUT about his class talent show. He really wants to participate and has been asking me multiple times daily to help him find a song to sing. Doug is out of town for the week, so I'm single-momming it, and barely keeping my head above water. (Kudos to all of you who do this for really reals!!!!!)

We were talking about it again tonight and I told him we would work on something over the weekend. He told me he doesn't have to sing, but he just doesn't know what other talents he has. I was doing a load of laundry and just kind of blew him off, telling him again that we would find something over the weekend. Doug called to tell the kids goodnight and he talked to Hunter for quite awhile. Hunter's side of the conversation was rather subdued. He just kept saying, "Thank you, thanks for saying that, thank you," etc., etc.

After they hung up, Hunter came and snuggled with me for a minute, fighting hard to control his tears. Finally, I just pulled him close and asked him what was wrong. He told me he wasn't sad, but started crying. Finally he said, "Dad just made me realize how special I am." Apparently Doug was listing off the multitude of talents Hunter has. I apparently need to stop and "smell the roses" a little bit more. Yeah, clean laundry is important but not NEARLY as important as his self-esteem!!

Thanks little man for helping me realize once again how precious life is. I LOVE YOU, TOO!!!!!! :)
