TOO Good Not to Share!!!!! :)

I have an update on my class. Actually, I have a couple of updates. The first one involved Herbert, Former Friend, and Suzy Q from my previous post. My friend, Abby, left a note for me to read the other day on my desk. It said,

Herbert,

Suzy Q said the only way she will go out with you is if you kiss her (on the cheek) and hug her everyday and you are willing to take care of her.

This part is from Former Friend. You need to take care of her and love her and respect her. I'm not giving her to you unless you respect her.

Sincerely,
Former Friend

Apparently Former Friend and Suzy Q are friends again--my last post, if you remember, they hated each other! :) Apparently they have made up again. PHEW! Who can keep up with 5th graders.

Now, for the creme de la creme........

My friend who teaches in the classroom next door, Alisha, came into my classroom this morning and motioned for me to come out into the mudroom where our classes keep their backpacks. She showed me this backpack and asked if it belonged to anyone in my classroom.

I didn't recognize it, but it was moving AND meowing. Yes, there was a cat inside it. I opened it and this poor little thing leaped out. I carried it into our classrooms. Apparently, there was a little girl, I will call "Clepto", who saw a "stray cat" on her way to school. So of course, the most obvious thing to do was pick it up, put it in her backpack, and try it hide it for the entire day. The poor little thing was terrified. Alisha and I walked down to the office to share our story with the secretaries. After we all had a good laugh, we took the cat outside and let it go. It was a beautiful, well-fed cat, which I very much doubt was homeless! :)

It has been a long time since I have laughed that hard!!!!!!

I love it!! Thanks for sharing. Now, do you work with someone who has the same name as you? What a small world. Since I have changed Cooper's school I have met 5 other Wendy's. Crazy.

I think you should start a blog just for elementary school teachers. You have some seriously excellent stories. I especially love their "names". You rock.

Mary, you are welcome to come back ANY time. We really miss you and this kids still call me Mrs. Nelson.

I know Wendy, crazy, huh? Too bad the other Alisha spells her name wrong! :)

AB and Haley, it's AMAZING what great stories you can glean on a daily basis when dealing with 33+ children!

You have GOT to be kidding - a cat in a backpack???? I'm no animal lover but, honestly!! Maybe they should "take care of her and love her and respect her"...I'm totally referring to the cat, not Suzy Q.
