Apparently Lexie has been very traumatized by our recent presidential election. She was very nervous when she went to bed Tuesday night because she knew Obama was winning. It is no big secret that Doug and I are quite conservative, so she knew we had both voted for McCain. Her class had a "mock vote" on Tuesday also, and John McCain won. I wasn't aware how concerned she was about the whole election thing until she came into my room first thing Wednesday morning. Here is our conversation:
Lexie: Mom, do we have to move to Par-ee?
Me: Uh, what are you talking about?
Lexie: Do we have to move to Par-ee?
Me: Lexie, I don't know what you're talking about!
Lexie: Did Obama win?
Me: Yes
Lexie: OH NO! That means we have to move to Par-ee or China!
Me: (FINALLY understanding) Do you mean Paris?
Lexie: Yeah, Par-ee, where we will be safe from Obama since he is going to do bad things for our country.
After about 5 minutes of discussion, I assured her that Obama is not a "bad guy" and we will be safe here in the United States. I'm not exactly sure how her thought process worked. It's actually a little bit scary that she was so distraught. Yes, we were disappointed that McCain lost, but we are not going to leave the country!
Some of you are probably disappointed to hear that, but we are American and proud! :)

Alisha--I'm glad someone misses me when I'm not around! :) As to your question--ABSOLUTELY! I keep trying to do the same thing! Maybe someday they will acknowledge my existence again!! ;-)
This story made me laugh. We voted McCain too, but what can ya do?
